New Work

My latest painting was inspired by a trip last summer through New Mexico. It went through many incarnations before I could call it finished. It is now on display at the Roadhouse Arts gallery.

Below is an image outside Artesia, New Mexico taken as we drove.

January Birds

At the beginning of a new year, I don't make resolutions but I do reflect on the past year and choose a word to guide the upcoming year. This year I have chosen "quiet" as my word. Last year I wore too many hats. They were all ones that I wanted to wear, but it got to the point that I didn't think I was able to devote quality time to all of them. And, I was missing out on the things that refill my battery. So, this year I have had to pull back and leave a little more time for the quiet.

One of those things I've missed is having morning coffee watching the bird feeders outside the kitchen window. I received two new feeders for Christmas so the feeder tree is constantly busy. Yesterday, I pulled out the "Africa" lens and tripod and took pictures of my customers. Poppy was there to help and photo bombed a few of my pictures. The goldfinches are just brilliant right now as they winter here in the hill country.
