Latest Project...

Meet Dash. He showed up at our house last Sunday afternoon. He was scratched up, limping and hungry. I was able to feed him a few meals but I wasn't able to catch him. He went on his way.

We ended up contacting his people who came out to the house to search for him (he had gotten out of the fenced yard when the fireworks scared him). He was no where to be found. It turns out that after he left our house, some people were able to catch him and turned him over to the Italian Greyhound Rescue who cared for him until his people found him. They were reunited yesterday and I'm sure that he is getting all kinds of spoiled today! He was a lucky one!

Dog Days

We are offically in the dog days of summer...

It is too hot to do much of anything outside. And, since the kiln and much of my equipment is in the garage, nothing is getting done. I've been doing a lot of reading and dreaming and sketching so I am full of ideas. I just need to find the motivation to get out there in the heat. Even the dogs want nothing more than to stay in the air conditioning...

What was I thinking?

I am always looking for creative (and inexpensive) ways to furnish my studio - you know, the one not built yet...

I found an auction of old science tables that a local school district is replacing. They are solid wood with a good hard top that will withstand banging, painting and glass. They are designed to be used with acids and bunsen burners. They'd be perfect for work surfaces and counters. The catch is you had to bid on the entire lot - 9 pallets of 10. Yes, 90 tables! Mr. Tabby and I have spent two days moving around very heavy tables in uncomfortable heat and humidity. We are exhausted.

Between the new studio and the garage, we will use about 30. So, we have a few left over. Mr. Tabby is firing up Craig's List tonight. Is anyone interested in a few tables?

On the Easel Today...

I was able to get some painting time in this weekend. This is what happened to my Bloom True painting class painting. Not very Flora Bowley-ish. Not sure what happened. But, I really like it. I think it is more influenced by my vacation in Arizona.

I even got a few things in the kiln this week. It was a good week! Now, off to Dallas for the day job. Got a studio to save for...

Celebrating Freedom!

Wishing you a Happy (and safe) Fourth of July!

I'll be celebrating by playing in the studio and hanging out with Mr. Tabby.
