School starts for us tomorrow. Which means that fall and cooler temperatures are around the corner. It also means that Art281 is almost here. I spent the day working on some new editions to my Halloween plate collection. I also had a guest designer in the studio to make a plate for the show. His plate turned out great! They are off to the kiln for the first firing.
I also sold my first painting at the Bulverde Area Art Center today. It was my first painting to sell - ever! Woo hoo! It was inspired by my trip west this summer. I may have to go back...

August in the Hill Country is brutal. Many days are 100 degrees and this year we've had high humidity. The heat saps your energy when you venture out of the house. As a result, my garden looks pretty sad. Most things have shriveled and I haven't had the time or energy to pull them up. And, although many gardeners have planted their fall crops, I can't bring myself to plant anything else in this weather. It seems cruel.
On the bright side, I've got some tomatoes that keep producing in spite of it all. A few pastes are hanging on. But, the orange grape tomatoes are still making sweet little tomatoes. I think next year, I'm going to give up on the big tomatoes and only plant these little guys.

The day job has been crazy busy the last few weeks and doesn't look like it will be letting up anytime soon. Even Mr. Tabby has been traveling for work. Not much time for the studio, or anything else for that matter. Maybe in the fall things will start to settle down a bit...
