White Christmas - in Texas!!!

We went to visit Grandma in west Texas this Christmas break. We took the RV and the dogs which is our tradition now. Little did we know that west Texas would be the only part of the country to get a white Christmas this year.

The dogs loved it. They frolicked in the snow and thoroughly enjoyed Grandma's back yard. We had to leave before the snow got too deep. Snow and pulling an RV are no fun. Thankfully, just an hour south, the roads were clear.

Below are pictures of the beginnings of a rare white Christmas in Texas.

Cookie Swap

This season, I particpated in a cookie swap with the folks at organized by Marsha of Tumble Fish Studios. She did a fantastic job of putting all of our recipes together. I love seeing all of the other talented entries. And, I got quite a few new recipes to try out.

My submission is above. Oatmeal cookies are healthy right?

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to Me

As you can tell, I've been doing some painting recently. Previous attempts at painting have been the traditional oil painting that couldn't really hold my interest. So tedious. I was never able to "let go" and paint the types of painting that I've always admired. Lately, I've been exploring mixed media painting and collage art. It is messy and freeing and fun! I love that there are no rules except what makes me feel good.

One of my favorite artists is Nancy Lefko. She has some new art in her Etsy store and I just had to scoop up one of her original paintings. It is so colorful and full of life.

The sentiment of "Bloom and Grow" is perfect for my studio and I hope to be a motto for next year! Thank you Nancy!

Merry Christmas to Us

For Christmas this year, we decided to take a flameworking class by my friend Sam Hibler in her new studio. She is the creator of the wonderful beads at Dream Fire Glass.

C has been wanting some of Sam's jewelry for quite a while now. And, this was something that I could do sitting down. Mr. Tabby, C, my friend J and I took a private beginning beads class with a bracelet class to make something pretty with all of our new beads. Below are some pictures of the process along with our finished bracelets.

Thanks to Sam for a wonderful class. We all love our new bracelets!!

Reindeer Games

I'm still not walking but the knee is healing as expected. I have even graduated to a walker. It is sad that that makes me happy! Four more weeks to go...

In the mean time, I have been entertaining myself by painting. Above is a cute little reindeer that is now on display for the season.
