Love Letter

This weekend, Mr. Tabby and I went to the mall. He saw this magnet and bought it for me to keep in my studio. He thought that the quote was particularly relevant to me right now. He is always doing nice things like this! He knows me well and is always, always supportive. Even though it usually means more work for him!
Today is our eighth wedding anniversary so I have been thinking a lot about the past eight years. He was the one to encourage me to turn my hobbies into more of a full time endeavor. He is the one to load up the truck for shows and is there to drop things off at the gallery when I can’t make it. He agreed to vacation in Portland because we could fit in a trip to Bullseye. He was the one with the idea to build a new studio and got the land cleared for the future home of the Tangerine Tabby Studio. I am able to do so many things because he is there to support and encourage me. Is it any wonder that I knew right away that he was the guy for me? I love you honey!

New Work - Drought

My new piece is entitled Drought as it is what has been on the mind of all Texans this summer. You can see that the colors match my front lawn perfectly!

The piece is kiln formed art glass and will be on display at the Bulverde Area Art Center this fall.

Practical Magic Blog Party

Always throw spilled salt over your left shoulder,
Keep rosemary by your garden gate,
Plant lavender for luck,
And, fall in love whenever you can.

New Work

I haven't been in the studio as much as I would have liked in the past few months. This is my latest piece inspired by my class with Alice Benvie Gebhart. I have been working on trying to get more depth in my work.

This year's Art281 event has been cancelled. It is a favorite show because I can show off all of my Halloween art. And, I love seeing what all of the glass artists have been up to over the past year. Oh, well. There's always next year....

Old Traditions and New Friends

This was a great weekend. Saturday we took a family trip to the Aggie football game at Kyle field. C is a freshman in high school now, so, it is time to start thinking about college. She really enjoyed the marching band as she is now in the high school band. There are several Aggies in my family who would love to have her choose A&M! So many traditions and so many choices of study.
On Sunday, I met with the Texas Fly Girls. We had all taken an e-course by Kelly Rae Roberts about growing a creative business and wanted to meet in person. We had a show and tell and got to know each other a bit. It is so nice to connect with people in a similar place in their creative journeys. Each woman had very different medium and type of art, yet we all have so much in common. Kelly Rae was right when she said that we would attract like minded people. Thanks to Ann Marie for her gift to us. Mine is now hanging above my workstation.
And the best part about the weekend? We finally received some rain. Not a lot and certainly not what we need, but it is a start and all Texans (Aggie and Longhorn) were dancing in the rain this weekend!

Wednesday Wish

Jamie Ridler's prompt today is "What guidance do you wish for?" Right now, I am feeling a bit out of sorts. I feel stuck between two worlds. One is a day job that is going extremely well with many successes. The other is a creative passion that I would like to pursue. I have created a five year plan. But, being impatient as I am, I want to skip the plans and jump right to the fun part. My evening and thoughts are now consumed with the steps and tasks that will take me to my goal.

My wish is for some guidance to live a balanced life. How do I balance the day job, the creative part of me and still have a happy, healthy life with my family?

And again, I also really, really wish for rain for Texas!

I'm off to DC again today for the day job. It goes without saying that the events ten years ago have forever changed us. Today will be a huge reminder as I fly into the nation's capital.

Thanks to all of those who stopped by the Bulverde Jubilee in the dust and heat yesterday. It was nice to remember and celebrate our heroes as a community.

Wednesday Wish

Today's Wishcasting Wednesday prompt from Jamie Ridler Studios is: What path do you wish to follow?

I've been thinking about this for a while now. I am ready to start following a more creative path. My current career has given me many experiences that I wouldn't have wanted to miss. However, the whispers that are telling me to stay home more and follow your bliss are getting louder and louder. I have started this year with a plan to increase my skills with glass and have taken some amazing classes. I have begun to get more involved in the creative community where I live. This is the path that I want to follow. I am surrounded by people who are extremely supportive and am completely grateful for them. Creating makes me happy and my wish is to have the opportunity to do more.

I also really, really wish for rain here in Texas!

Great Week!

This is going to be a great week! The heat has finally broken! No more 100+ degree days. This morning was a wonderful crisp 59. The AC is off and the windows are open!

The big kiln is working again thanks to my fantastic electrician. The heat in the garage caused it to poop out! Got that fixed. The new sand blaster is working. The heat caused the gloves to melt! Got that fixed. Sensing a theme here? Got a new blade on the tile saw too. That wasn't a heat issue, but it sure is nicer to use now (it is in the carport).

I even got my knee fixed last week too. The surgery went well and I am up and about.

Pictured is one of the pot melts that took me two months to do (they don't work as well when the kiln won't heat past 1150). Hopefully, there will be more pretty glass pictures in the near future. I'm ready to get back into the studio!
