Spring is finally here - although you wouldn't know it by our chilly weather today. I've spent the last few weeks in the garden getting the compost in (six truck beds full!) and getting things planted. The vegetable garden is in full swing. We have tomatoes and peppers in the ground. CK&E ate all of the asparagus this weekend. There are strawberries on the way which made them very happy. The hummers are back and today I saw a Yellow Swallowtail butterfly and a Monarch flying around the new flowers. I love Spring – the promise of a wonderful year to come!

This past weekend, I took a Beginning Metalsmithing class at the Southwest School of Art. I learned how to use some of the tools that I have amassed but have been afraid to try. Attached is a picture of my latest creation. Not the most beautiful thing I've ever made, but I soldered, sawed, drilled, bezeled, riveted and finished. I know I will be using those techniques in the future. Now I just need to get busy in the studio.
